Arrival in Singapore, Concluded

OK, the last post the flight over.

We arrived at 6:00 local time, within 2 minutes of our scheduled arrival. Pretty darned good for going way north and then coming down the coast of Asia while also going around North Korea, across Bejing and finally coming into Singapore.

I’m worried about the cough that I’ve been fighting since sometime after Thanksgiving. Even with the suppressant pills, and an entire bag of Hall’s Cough Drops, I’m still hacking like I belong in a sanitarium and EB keeps saying, “Don’t do that; you’re going to get quarantined!”

Ever try to keep from coughing for 18 hours?

Right now, we’ve separated. He took a small carry-on with our dress clothes in it to meet someone from the Hospital. They’ve kindly agreed to hold them for us until we need them, which isn’t going to be while in Thailand. I didn’t go through customs, but instead went off in search of our gate. We have about a 2 ½ hour layover until we board for Bangkok.

People in foreign airline and train terminals are amazing. They instantly change languages, even altering their accents from British English to American English and are almost unfailingly polite.

Air conditioning is much less than in American facilities -- it's more like those in Europe -- comfortable, but not excessively cool.

The Singapore airport is monstrous. Think “Mall of America” or bigger and you’ve got the idea, with plantings of orchids throughout the entire facility. There is no trash – I repeat – NO trash anywhere. The floors are every bit as clean as our living room, there’s no graffiti on the walls or anything else inappropriate.

Of course, they still cane people for some offenses here in Singapore, so that may have something to do with it!
